Kevin Robert Leggett, 53, of Suffolk, VA, passed away at his home on Thursday, November 9, 2017.
Born on May 13, 1964, in Rhinebeck, NY, he is the son of Patrick Joseph and Eleanor Ann (Rasco) Leggett of Rhinebeck. Kevin earned his Bachelor’s degree of Science in Liberal Arts, and an Associate’s Degree Communications.
Kevin married Carmen M. Sanchez-Barrera on November 19, 1988 in Rota, Spain, and Carmen survives at home in Virginia.
Kevin served his country for 32 years- he served in the US Navy on active duty from May of 1985 to May of 1989 and served in the Naval Reserves from 1989 to 1991. In 1991 he joined the US Coast Guard, where he served as an Operation Specialist from Petty Officer 2nd Class to Senior Chief before earning a commission as a Chief Warrant Officer – Operations Systems Specialist. He retired September 1st of this year, remaining in Suffolk, Virginia until his passing.
In addition to his loving wife and parents, Kevin is survived by his children; Beatriz (Dan) Sigmon of Fort Belvoir, VA, 2nd Lieutenant Brendan Leggett, USMC of Quantico, VA, and Amaya Leggett of Suffolk, VA; his siblings, Michael Leggett of Oneonta, NY, Christopher Leggett of Rhinebeck, NY, Maureen Nicholson of Rhinebeck, NY, Timothy (Jennifer) Leggett of Stanfordville, NY, and Peter (Maureen) Leggett of Red Hook, NY; his grandchildren, Collin, Ethan, Jaxon and Maddyson; his nieces and nephews, Bethany Rose, Christopher, LeighAnne, Ian and Laim; along with countless extend family, friends and colleagues.
Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes, 91 E. Market St., Rhinebeck, NY on Thursday, November 16th, 2017 from 4 to 7 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 17, 2017 at Church of the Good Shepherd, Rhinebeck, NY. Fr. Douglas Y. Crawford will officiate. Burial with Military Honors will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Rhinecliff.
Memorial donations may be made in Kevin’s memory to the Catholic Relief Services
