Frank W. "Bill" Degenhardt

Frank W. "Bill" Degenhardt, 94, of Gallatin, NY, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2019 at his home.

Born on February 1, 1925, in Mt. Vernon, NY, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary (O'Brien) Degenhardt. Bill married Jessie Shute on August 8, 1953 in Pelham, NY, and she survives at home in Gallatin.

He served in the US Navy during World War II.

For many years, Bill was an accomplished Emmy award-winning technical director with ABC television in New York City.

A longtime Larchmont resident, Bill was an active volunteer with the Mt. Vernon Fire Company, and was a licensed airplane pilot.

 

Following his retirement, he, along with his wife, moved to Gallatin, NY in 1989. Locally he was active in the Red Hook-Rhinebeck Lodge 2022 BPOE in Red Hook, NY and served as Town Judge with the Town of Gallatin for 4 years.

In addition to his loving wife of 66 years, he is survived by his children, William Paul (Linda) Degenhardt of Rye Brook, NY, Roberta Diane Degenhardt of Philmont, NY, George Christian (Grace) Degenhardt of Greenwich, CT, and Dwight Donald Degenhardt of Red Hook, NY; his grandchildren, Nicolas William (Whitney) Degenhardt, Eric Paul (Grace) Degenhardt, and Christian Jon Degenhardt; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Two brothers, Robert Edward Degenhardt, and Donald John Degenhardt predecease him.

Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes in Red Hook on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 from 2 - 4 & 6 - 8 PM. Red Hook-Rhinebeck Lodge 2022 BPOE will conduct services on Tuesday evening at 7 pm.

Friends will also be received on Friday, November 8, 2019 from 4 to 7 pm at the Coxe & Graziano Funeral Home, 767 E. Boston Post Rd., Mamaroneck, NY 10543.

Graveside services and interment will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, NY.

Memorial donations can be made in Bill's memory to the Milan Rescue Squad, Milan Fire Department - Station , 1575 Jackson Corners Rd., Milan NY 12571
