Louis J. Dondero, 75, a longtime resident of Red Hook, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 20th, 2020 at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, NY. Born on September 1, 1944, in Astoria, NY, he was the son of the late John and Josephine (Barbieri) Dondero. Louis married Rose Bard on May 6, 1967 at St. Christopher's Church in Red Hook, NY. Rose survives at home. He served in the Unites States Air Force from 1962-1966. For many years, Lou worked throughout the area as a union plumber with the Plumbers & Steamfitters Local #21 based in Peekskill, NY. An avid car collector and enthusiast, Lou was a longtime member of the Red Hook Car Club In addition to his loving wife of 53 years; his brother in law & sister in law William & Linda Bard of Red Hook; along with several cousins, extended family, colleagues, and friends. A sister, Marie Dondero predeceased him. Graveside service and interment will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 24th, 2020 at St. John's Reformed Church Cemetery in Red Hook, NY. NYS and CDC guidelines suggest that mask be worn and that we maintain social distancing.
