Kathleen Jane (Donohue) Triebel was born in Bangor, Maine on April 11, 1948 to John Joseph and Ruth Livingston Donohue. Kathy devoted her life to the love of family and early childhood development.
During her childhood years she was blessed with her sister, Patricia and her brother, Jack. Her family lived in several locations including Maine, Rhode Island and Saudi Arabia, while her father furthered his education and practiced his profession.
In 1964 the family moved to Millbrook, NY where Kathy met her future husband and lifelong friend Donald Triebel. Kathy graduated from Dutchess County Community College with a degree in early childhood development. Kathy and Don were married on August 16, 1969 and moved to Germany where Don was serving in the US Army. On September 30, 1970 they had their first son Donald William and the family moved back to Dutchess County in March 1971. On April 3, 1973 their second son David John was born.
In 1975, Kathy started working with preschool children at Church Street Nursery School in Red Hook. During the summer of 1989, she founded Funshine Nursery School. Her "Funshine Legacy" carries on, helping children to form lifelong skills.
During April 2010, Kathy was diagnosed with a very rare, aggressive form of cancer by Sloan Kettering. During the next ten years Kathy made many trips to Sloan in pursuit of overcoming and living with the effects that it created. Occasional trips to Maine were the icing of life for Kathy. Watching the movement of the ocean was always very relaxing and refreshing for her.
Kathy was predeceased by her parents and her sister. She leaves behind her husband, two sons, three grandchildren, her brother, several nieces and nephews, a grand niece and nephew. She touched the lives of countless children and adults, in the most positive of ways.
Kathy left this world looking forward to her next adventure. She will be dearly missed.
