Jean C. Katrulya-Lopez, 94, of Sun City, AZ and a longtime Red Hook area resident, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2018.
Born on November 6, 1923, in Whitestone, NY, she was the daughter of the late John R. and Rachael (Rikert) Townsend. Jean married John Katrulya on September 20, 1942 in Rhinebeck, NY and he predeceased her on March 15, 1999. Her second husband, George Lopez, also predeceased her in December, 2010.
Jean worked for many years as a nurse in the office of Dr. William Jamison in Rhinebeck, NY.
Active in her community, she was a member of the Red Hook Grange #814 Patrons of Husbandry, the Upper Red Hook Historical Society, the Old Dutch Village Garden Club of Red Hook, and served as President on the Red Hook Schools PTA.
Jean is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy K. and Charles H. Roff of Chazy, NY; daughter-in-law Nancy Katrulya of Rhinebeck, NY; four grandchildren, Kim Zehnacker (husband Jon), Heather Lamson (husband Chris), Jennifer Katrulya (husband Tracy), and Sarah Katrulya (Chris Kelsey); and six great grandchildren, Kiera and Lauren Zehnacker, Cody and Dylan Lamson, Alex and Hope Kelsey; along with extended family and friends.
In addition to her husbands, she was predeceased by her son, Robert Katrulya and three brothers, Bruce, Roger and Donald Townsend.
Graveside services and interment will be held on Saturday, June 23rd, 2018 at 12:00 PM at St. John’s Reformed Church Cemetery, Red Hook, NY, with Pastor Luis Perez presiding.
