Mercedes T. Brennan, 91, a twenty-seven year resident of Red Hook, NY and a former Jackson Heights, NY resident, passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at the Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, NY.
Born on May 31, 1927, in Queens, NY, she was the daughter of the late Edmund and Ethel (Forbes) Baker. Mercedes married John Brennan and he predeceased her in 1962. Her longtime companion, Mike Kutney, also predeceased her.
For many years, Mercedes worked as a bookkeeper with the advertising agency of Sudler & Hennesey in New York City.
Following her retirement in 1991, Mercedes relocated to Red Hook & became a communicant of St. Christopher's Church in Red Hook, NY.
Mercedes lived a life full of faith, family, laughter, and love. She is survived by her two sisters; Rosemary Bennett of Portland, OR, and Barbara Baker of Queens, NY; along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
In addition to her husband and companion, she was predeceased by her siblings; Miriam, Edward, Ethel, Jack, Brother, Raymond (Fr. Kieran Baker CP), and Joan.
Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Friday, October 19, 2018 from 2 - 4 & 6-8 PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Saturday, October 20th, 2018 at St. Christopher's Church, Red Hook, NY. Interment will be private at St. Charles Cemetery.
