Obituary of Roger R Rifenburgh

Roger R. Rifenburgh, Sr, 88, a lifelong Germantown area resident, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Livingston Hills Nursing Center in Livingston, NY.

 

Born on January 9, 1932, in Hudson, NY, he was the son of the late Roger Earl and Viola (Plass) Rifenburgh.

 

He served in the US Army during the Korean War and was awarded the Bronze Service Star for his efforts.

 

Roger married Rosemary Ladensack September 14, 1962 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Red Hook, NY and she survives in Livingston, NY.

 

For many years, Roger worked in telephone repair with the Germantown Telephone Company in Germantown, NY. He also served as the caretaker for many of the local estates.

 

Roger was a life member of the Germantown Fire Company in Germantown, NY, and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.

 

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his children, Rosie (Les) Leonard of Hyde Park, NY, Robert (Blake Swart) Rifenburgh of Texas, and Ron Rifenburgh of Germantown, NY; his sister Joan Lyons of Livingston, NY; his grandchildren, Ronald Rifenburgh, Jr, Isabella Rifenburgh, and Haley Rifenburgh; along with extended family, friends, and colleagues.

 

His sisters, Lorraine Austin, and Gloria Millus, predecease him.

 

Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Monday, December 14, 2020 from 4 to 6 pm.

 

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held on Tuesday at 11 am at the Germantown Reformed Cemetery, Germantown, NY.
